There is a lot of shock, horror, disbelief, elation, and celebration in America today. That sounds schizophrenic, I know. Donald Trump won by a very close margin last night. That means we as a country are mostly divided into two sets of citizens: those for and those against the winner. I say “mostly divided” because I didn’t vote for either. I didn’t like attributes of either and voted on principle and hope that a third party candidate might gain 5% of the votes to be more fairly included in the future elections. Long shot, I know.
I know there is a lot of rawness and gloating that has to run it’s course in the next few days, but I can’t help to pose a controversial, thought-provoking question:
Do you think this election was a huge wake-up call from GOD? I am not necessarily talking about who the next president is, but more of the way we’ve been slipping as a country that has lead to this great division of our people. Could it be that all of the lying, bad-mouthing, hate-mongering, divisiveness, aggression, lack of respect, abuse of women, failing to be better stewards of our land and people has lead us to where we are this morning?
Maybe God is saying, “Hey, will you turn to me NOW? You can’t rely on mere, fallible, imperfect men and women. Turn away from your vapid, self-centered, materialist ways and I will take care of you.” What if we all stopped and prayed for our country, our leaders, this world? Would we find healing and peace?
